A proper log cabin in fifteen acres
This is the unit people photograph. A long, timber-built two-bedroom log cabin set in the meadow, with two separate bedrooms, a generous living space, a full kitchen and its own private shower room. It's the largest thing we let and comfortably the most characterful — a genuine cabin in a field at the edge of ancient woodland, rather than a park home with cladding.
There's enough space here for two people to live without treading on each other, or for a couple who simply want room to breathe, an office corner and somewhere for guests to sleep. Sharers work well too, given the two real bedrooms. Outside you have your own private garden area, and beyond that fifteen acres of grass, hedgerow and forest edge.
It also lets by the night from £100 when it's free, which makes it our one option that genuinely suits a short stay — a weekend in Epping Forest, twelve miles from central London, with no road noise and the Owl pub a hundred metres up the lane. Availability is limited because it's usually taken long-term, so it's worth asking early.
