Getting here: from the M25, leave at Junction 26 and follow your sat-nav to IG10 4AW. The nearest tube is Loughton (Central Line), about 3 miles — a taxi is around £7. Overground trains are also located 3 miles away at Chingford, with easy access to Walthamstow Central buses and trains. Buses 215 (Walthamstow Central) and 379 / 505 (Chingford) stop at Sewardstone Road. There's no public transport to the gate itself, so a car or bike is effectively required.

Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge
A Tudor hunting grandstand and one of the forest's most photographed landmarks — a short walk from the park. Also within the forest and a short walk: Dick Turpin's cave and haunts, the ancient Saxon camp deep in the woods, and Connaught Water.
The Owl & The King's Oak
Two proper country pubs within easy reach. The Owl is barely 100 metres from the gate — perfect for an evening walk and a pint.
Lee Valley White Water Centre
Olympic-standard white-water rafting and a coffee shop, just down the road in Waltham Abbey.
